AGILE ADOPTION CANVAS

Is your organization ready to shift to agile?

Why are we doing it?

Is it a right thing for us to do?

What do we expect to reach our goal? How do we get there?

These are the questions that many leaders and teams ask when deciding to shift to agile practice.

The decision to become agile is an important commitment to take a journey of becoming something different from what you probably are now.

Expect the organizational culture iceberg to appear in view soon after Agile Titanic has sailed out. With no tools ready to foresee, imagine, expect the unexpected, the journey with hundreds onboard becomes a careless and insane adventure. Learning agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban help but cannot guarantee safe way to the destination – becoming agile. The discrepancies between the newly adopted frameworks values, on the one side, and actual culture values – and nearly always the structure securing these values,- on the other side, might appear as barriers making  mission impossible. Neither theoretical awareness can secure our readiness to meet the unexpected – which is often expelled from statistically supported scenario and left without proper attention. We discover, that we forgot the binoculars when the iceberg appear.

When you drive a car, and suddenly see something coming against you on the road, the small reflective movement to push the brake and turn the steering the right way are the skills that save the life of these in the car and sometimes around. You do not acquire this skill by reading a car manual, even being a very bright person, but have to get out driving together with an instructor for some hours. Yes it helps if you checked the map, but you feel much more confident by driving in real life – first an easy, then more and more challenging route.

Therefore we designed a series of workshops to prepare the drive for the agile journey – get the skills, and explore the actual territory, not the map only,  in good time before rushing out into unknown. We suggest making shorter but regular exercise, packing the tools, skills training, team building and understanding, where we want to be.
